Recipes in 30 seconds

We want you to channel the inner chef that lives inside all of us! That's why we'd like to invite you to participate in the I Casvi Christmas Recipes' Contest, sponsored by the Department of Visual Arts, in which you will not only showcase your creativity through cooking;  but also by editing the video you’ll be making in order to show off your recipes.

As the great cook and writer Thomas Keller used to say: ‘A recipe has no soul. It is the cook who must give soul to the recipe.’ And that's what we're looking for in our students, at every stage. We want them to bring out the best in themselves and display their originality.   Children also learn through touching, testing, feeling, smelling and listening.  That's why they love hands-on activities in the kitchen.

Steps to follow

  • Prepare a Christmas recipe with or without help
  • Record a video showing how you did it.
  • Send it through Teams, before December 13, to concurso.recetas@casvi.es.
  • From 14th to 18th Dec (until 17:00 p.m), you can vote for your favorite on Casvi's Instagram account
  • The recipe with the most ‘likes’ will be the winner.

Cooking benefits

Many artists spend days on end in their workshops creating magnificent works of art. On the other hand, great chefs spend long hours absorbed in their kitchens as if they  were labs. The art of cooking helps us develop many creative skills. Additionally,it’s also useful to learn about different cultures, relax and spend quality time with your family.

Tips on how to make a good video

  • Choose the tool: Either with an animation program, by recording with a camera, or in a screen cast.
  • Write and draw the concept: Create the text and imagine how it might look on screen.
  • Look for a recording location: The most important thing is to control the light, and if you are going to do it outdoors, keep an eye on the weather conditions.
  • Record and edit the video: A simple way to do it is by using a smartphone with good recording capabilities. There are also a variety of free editors.
  • Add music and graphics: Search for help on pages like audiojungle.net or graphicriver.net , which can contribute to make your video look more professional. This can make a big difference.
